A village representative (speaker 8) outlined plans for a combined village and fire‑department 125th anniversary community festival proposed for Aug. 15 at Woltmaki Field and asked whether the school board would allow alcohol sales on school property for that single event.
The presenter described a daytime/afternoon festival with food tents, music and community booths, and said organizers would coordinate with the police and fire departments, match volunteers to serve in monitored areas, and work with district staff on layout and parking. "We're kinda looking at back here at Woltmaki Field, kinda utilizing the middle and elementary school properties for just parking," the presenter said.
Board members raised concerns about field damage, insurance and pedestrian safety; administration and village staff said facility‑use agreements can address repair and insurance responsibilities and that the board has previously approved alcohol at similar events (noting a 2001 precedent). The presenter said the board would see a one‑time approval or policy discussion on a January agenda and that more detailed terms (liability coverage, layout, restrictions) would be provided then.
No formal board vote was taken on the request at this meeting; it was recorded as an informational request and a future agenda item for the board’s January meeting.
