District updates: high-school gym audio nearly complete; technology, scheduling and facility projects outlined

The technology and facilities director reported the high-school gym audio upgrade is “99% complete,” with a new 16-speaker configuration and multiple zone amplifiers intended to improve speech and music playback. “The high school gym is 99% complete at this point in time,” the director said, noting one Bluetooth component remains to optimize performance for older devices.
Staff also described procurement of 120 interactive flat panels (many to be deployed on carts), camera and door-access equipment and plans to issue staff ID badges that will integrate with other district systems. The projects include summer installations: carpet replacement at the middle school, HVAC work, dugouts and new field fencing, with timelines that aim for completion before the next school year where possible.
A senior administrator gave an extended overview of the scheduling cycle, calling scheduling “a beast or an animal that really never sleeps” and laying out a month-by-month plan: early-year verification of needs, October–December course and department reviews, January advising and course requests, February–March master-schedule building and April finalization. The presentation emphasized earlier and more intentional planning for students with individualized education plans and a goal to publish a stable master schedule by April to minimize end-of-summer changes.
No formal votes were taken on these updates; board members asked clarifying questions about deployment timing and teacher training on new panels and thanked staff for project management.
