Council members asked whether cedar siding proposed for a new addition would comply with the city’s home-hardening code; Zuccaro advised the code generally precludes cedar on additions but suggested alternatives that mimic the look while meeting hardening requirements. Council discussion emphasized support for recognizing recent preservation work by allowing credits for prior qualifying work and the role of the historic preservation commission in reviewing alterations.
Council moved to approve Resolution No. 58 Series 2026; the motion passed on voice vote with council assent. No follow-up direction to staff was requested beyond standard permitting and funding steps.
The approval authorizes staff to implement the incentive and grant payments subject to the funding resolution and awarded alteration certificate. The city will coordinate any necessary permitting or home-hardening accommodations for the approved restoration and building addition.
