The Winneconne Community School District Board of Education voted to approve the 2026–27 extracurricular activities code at its May 4 meeting, broadening the code’s reach beyond athletics and addressing Name‑Image‑Likeness (NIL) considerations by referencing WIAA standards under district policy 2431.
Chair noted the code now covers many extracurriculars beyond sport teams. The chair also said he had asked about including NIL (name, image and likeness) language and indicated the topic was already addressed in policy 2431. "We have it addressed," the chair said, referring to WIAA‑aligned standards and the board's September update clarifying that scholastic athletes follow WIAA rules on NIL.
Board members discussed the single addition to the code and confirmed the district’s approach: follow WIAA guidance for NIL matters and place specific language in policy 2431 where applicable. After discussion a motion to adopt the 2026–27 extracurricular activities code passed on roll call.
The revised code applies to sports, performing arts and other student activities; board members said it aims to set consistent expectations for student behavior across contexts.
