Winneconne CESA 6 congratulates district on staff engagement; middle-school leadership students raise funds for Novus Center

At its public meeting, the Winneconne Community School District board received a CESA 6 presentation and a student leadership report highlighting staff engagement and student service projects.
"You should be celebrating because ... your school district and staff has exceeded the 51% threshold in staff engagement," Ted Nitsky of CESA 6 told the board, adding that the district’s engagement score rose from about 44% a year earlier to roughly 54% in the latest survey. Nitsky said higher staff engagement correlates with retention and improved student outcomes and congratulated district leaders on the progress. The presentation referenced Gallup-style engagement measures and the district’s Wolf Paw progress ratings; a follow-up workshop was scheduled.
School leadership staff also presented a short video from the middle-school leadership elective. Seventh-grader Croix Niece told the board the group bundled and sold suckers for Red Ribbon Week and "We raised $700 that week, and we donated it to the Novus Center," and described an ongoing reading-contest activity. Board members praised the students’ initiative and reinforced appreciation for student leadership.
What happens next: District staff will continue work with CESA 6 on staff-engagement initiatives and will host the planned workshop; student leadership projects will continue as part of the middle-school elective.
