Winneconne-area school board approves staffing changes, open-enrollment update and contracts

The board also approved revisions to its open-enrollment policy, labeled 51-13. The policy committee presented language removing a sibling-projection clause and clarified notification and acceptance timelines, including a 10-calendar-day deadline for families to accept placement offers and procedures for videotaped lotteries in oversubscribed grades. A board member noted that the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction reviews open-enrollment denials.
Administrators presented and the board approved an intergovernmental agreement with Omro to share a physical therapist. The administration said the shared arrangement has saved the district about $60,000 compared with the prior contract. The motion to approve the agreement was made and approved on roll call.
The board approved an updated job description for an elementary assistant principal; board members asked for clarification about a provision to "establish a handbook for volunteers," which administrators described as a routine procedural guide covering volunteer requirements and expectations. The board also approved the listed 2026–27 teacher contracts.
After taking those public actions the board voted to move into closed session under Wisconsin Statute 19.85(1)(c) to consider employment, promotion, compensation or performance-evaluation data and to review recommendations and possible personnel actions, including discussion of a preliminary notice of nonrenewal or acceptance of a separation agreement under Wisconsin Statute 118.22.
