The Winneconne Community School District board approved updates to educator and administrator compensation during its public meeting.
HR and Finance recommended keeping the district’s existing teacher compensation framework while increasing stipends tied to educator effectiveness by $50 at each tier. "As a committee, we are recommending we increase each of those stipends by $50," a committee member said. The revised stipend levels discussed were $350 for the first tier, $550 for the second tier, $800 for the third, and $1,050 for the top level.
The board voted to approve the teacher compensation model with that stipend adjustment. "Motion by Verage, 2nd by Harder to approve the teacher compensation model, as presented," the presiding member called; roll-call votes were recorded and the motion passed.
The board also approved an administrative compensation increase for the 2026–27 year tied to the Consumer Price Index. HR/Finance recommended a 2.63% increase "tied to the CPI index," which the board approved after a seconded motion and roll-call vote.
Board members said the compensation measures are intended to be modest, sustainable and consistent with past adjustments (the district has used a $200 per-year step for some increases) and to recognize performance and retention. The approvals move the proposals from committee recommendation to board policy implementation.
What happens next: The compensation changes will be implemented for the 2026–27 budget year as described, subject to normal payroll scheduling and any subsequent budgetary action required by the district.
