At the June 17 meeting the board presented a proclamation honoring Cheryl Dayton for 37 years on the Design Review Board and decades of volunteer service to the East Hampton Fire Department; Dayton accepted the plaque and thanked the board.
Deputy Mayor Chris Menardi outlined a new Mayor’s Youth Council program that offers flexible sign-ups at Village Hall and Main Beach, requires parent waivers for under-18 participants, and assigns village staff and beach staff to monitor hours. Menardi said the program is intended to match students’ schedules and expand community-service opportunities.
Brad Billet, introduced as the CEO/president/founder/chairman of the East Hampton Village Foundation, thanked village leaders for support of recent events and previewed summer programming: weekly Tuesday concerts at Main (starting July 7), a World Cup watch party in Herrick Park, and the Main Beach July 4 fireworks. The board later approved the fireworks agreement and accepted a $65,000 donation from the Foundation to cover fireworks costs.
The meeting included thanks to the village administrator and election staff for organizing a smooth election the prior day; trustees and staff exchanged brief remarks of appreciation.
