The Farmington Board of Education on June 16 approved the district's 2026–27 General Appropriations Resolution, set tax rates, certified a school improvement bond proposition for the November 2026 ballot and approved several purchases and contracts.
At the meeting the board passed the General Appropriations Resolution for 2026'27 after a motion by a trustee; the roll-call recorded all members voting yes. The board then approved a Form L-4029 tax-rate request that sets 7.8516 mills on homesteads, 21.2 mills on non-homestead property and 13.8516 mills on commercial personal property.
Trustees next approved a revised 2025'26 general appropriations resolution and certified a school improvement bond proposition presented as a 0-mill increase in the plan, a step the board took to place the bond proposition on the ballot. The board also approved a custodial equipment purchase not to exceed $90,000 and nutritional services equipment at a district cost not to exceed $311,000.
The board voted to approve tentative bargaining agreements with two support-staff groups: the Farmington Education Support Professionals (ESP) and the Farmington Maintenance & Cafeteria association (FMC). District staff told the board the two agreements cover about 355 employees and include on-scale wage increases and step advancements; the board moved to approve both agreements following presentation and Q&A.
Other approved items included amendments to OCSBA bylaws and a resolution opposing tying school funding to waiving attorney-client privilege, adoption of the 2026'27 meeting schedule, authorization of an acting-superintendent designation, and several routine consent items. The board approved expenditures totaling $13,833,566 across multiple funds and authorized a slate of financial institutions and signatories for district deposits and investments for 2026'27.
The meeting concluded with uncontested officer nominations: Donald Walker as president, Claudia Heinrich as vice president, Angie Smith as secretary and Terry Williams as treasurer. The board adjourned following reports and brief remarks from trustees and staff.
Votes at a glance: all recorded roll-call votes listed in the meeting packet were approved by the board; specific motions and recorded roll-call names are contained in the official minutes and the board packet on the Farmington Public School District website.
