Glassboro honors Sergeant Whalen and Detective Aiken at council meeting

During the Feb. 24, 2026 Mayor and Council meeting the Glassboro Police Department was invited to present, and the council recognized two officers for recent work.

A police presenter (transcript speaker 8) described Sergeant Whalen’s contributions to department training and leadership, saying Sergeant Whalen "has consistently exceeded standards in his role" and was selected as supervisor of the year for 2025. The presenter credited Whalen with implementing training techniques, developing instructional blocks, and helping equip officers with the tools to perform to a high standard.

Another department speaker (transcript speaker 2) described Detective Aiken’s investigative work: Detective Aiken assisted major-case and patrol units, executed search warrants in Glassboro that recovered property belonging to a victim, and helped secure charges and arrests following interviews and forensic review. The speaker summarized several incidents handled by Detective Aiken through the previous months, including referrals to task forces and collaborative county investigations.

Council members and the mayor offered public congratulations. Council President Miller thanked borough employees for storm response and specifically acknowledged the officers; Councilman Brown, Councilman Casaubon, Councilwoman Garlic, Councilman Halter and Councilwoman Spence each offered brief congratulations during committee reports and closing comments.

The recognitions were ceremonial and did not involve formal ordinance or budgetary action. The mayor encouraged continued attendance at council meetings and thanked staff for their storm-response work.
