Engineer Mustafa Emir presented two alternative project packages and associated pricing for general, water and sewer work after meeting with Brian Olsen of Sheboygan County. Committee members said they preferred the downtown option. Emir told the committee the county may authorize the majority of construction work but the village will be required to bid out any water and sewer work.
Chairman Jamie Vorpahl moved to recommend the downtown project and Member Chuck Mueller seconded; the motion carried 3-0. The committee did not vote on funding sources at the meeting but discussed coordination with county officials and the need to advertise any water and sewer contracts required by the chosen alternative.
Clerk/Treasurer Stephanie Waala and Engineer Emir noted the Local Road Improvement Program (LRIP) funds were discussed separately and Emir suggested LRIP money be used for a non-road eligible project; Waala said she will collaborate with Emir to produce a list of eligible projects for future selection. The committee listed road project updates as a future agenda item.
The recommendation will be forwarded to the Village Board for consideration and any required bidding or county approvals prior to construction.
