Board delays further approvals for Keren Hatorah until septic system re-inspection and conditions met

Joel Kohn, project representative for Keren Hatorah, told the Board that MHE review comments have been received and that the septic system will require a re-inspection while the facility is in use during the summer. Kohn said the owners hired a company to clean up the site and intend to address outstanding building violations.
Board members and staff emphasized that the project must comply with the original approval, complete all septic inspections, and resolve outstanding conditions before receiving any additional approvals. Jim Carnell said several building permit applications have been submitted; consulting attorney Steve Vegliante said he reviewed the PUD law and bylaws and advised the Board that it has performed due diligence but that both existing and proposed community buildings must be open to the entire community, not restricted to one religion or demographic.
The Board determined it was not comfortable issuing further approvals until the septic system has been approved by the town engineer and prior conditions have been met.
