Keller ISD authorizes superintendent to negotiate up to $1.68M agreement with SSC Service Solutions for facilities services

Administration recommended the board authorize district leadership to finalize an agreement with SSC Service Solutions to provide plumbing, HVAC and other skilled‑trades services districtwide and to support preventive maintenance via a work order system. Facilities staff said SSC has experience in higher education and K–12, and that the proposal was structured to be revenue neutral by applying budgeted dollars for currently vacant positions to the contract.

The recommended authorization was for an agreement not to exceed $1,680,000 after final legal review and negotiation. Staff told trustees SSC would provide supervisory staff and frontline technicians, implement an asset-tagging program and bring a work order management system; staff said the arrangement could be adjusted mid-year to change staffing mixes if the district’s needs change. The recommended contract term is year-to-year with three potential 1‑year renewals.

Trustees asked about staff retention, whether current employees would be retained as district employees, and how the contract fits the proposed budget; staff said some tenured, vested employees would remain district employees while other positions could transition to SSC employment, and that the contract was built into the budget assumptions.

The board approved authorization for the superintendent or deputy superintendent to proceed with the contract negotiation and finalization with SSC Service Solutions.
