Economic development staff tout Olive Young flagship, GM studio, Motive Space growth and busy summer events

Staff also said General Motors has opened an Advanced Design Studio in Pasadena to recruit design students and that the studio is expected to employ about 100 people. Motive Space Systems, a local company that built precision arms for rover missions, was recently acquired by Rocket Lab, staff said, which they described as positive news for local advanced manufacturing.
Staff previewed a community-district needs assessment that is under way and reported an estimated 2,500 to 3,000 attendees at a recent World Cup watch party sponsored by the convention center and the city. The report also named two economic-development staffers, Deb Mabranio and Teresa Garcia, who were honored by the PCC Womens Business Center for work supporting small businesses.
Committee members praised staff for the events and business attraction work and asked staff to continue outreach to nearby business corridors and to share information about future activations. No formal action was taken on these updates; staff said more announcements may follow as private deals finalize.
