"No inspect there are no fees," a staff member said, adding that the registration will provide a way for enforcement to contact owners if the city receives complaints.
Councilmembers discussed that the changes stem from prior work sessions and are intended to harmonize definitions and provide a clear contact pathway rather than create a new fee-based program. The staff presentation noted that one ordinance adjusts zoning definitions and the companion ordinance adjusts the regulatory article; both must be approved together to take effect.
Both ordinances passed their first reading by roll call and will return for further consideration at subsequent meetings. The measures do not create new inspection powers for routine checks but enable complaint-driven follow-up and require annual updates to contact information.
The council did not set final reading dates during the July 6 meeting; staff said the ordinances will appear on upcoming agendas for continued review and possible adoption.
