During administrative updates the board heard school- and district-level highlights: a successful Redstone Elementary readathon (students logged 184,704 minutes and raised $15,797), partnerships with Big Brothers Big Sisters, in-service training for staff, and fall athletics and activities. Jennifer (speaker 5) summarized the readathon winners, prizes and how money raised supports field trips and enrichment.
Technology staff reported progress on wireless access-control improvements and said the district expects roughly $260,000 of Category 2 E-rate reimbursement over five years to help replace edge switches and improve wireless coverage in larger instructional spaces. Staff said these changes should reduce connectivity interruptions for classroom diagnostic testing.
On the consent agenda the board moved to approve multiple sets of minutes (special meeting 8/8/25, Sept. 17, Oct. 8), monthly bills and listings, and a policy update (Neola Volume 34 language revisions). Motions were made and approved by voice vote.
Officer Jessica (speaker 10) introduced herself earlier as the district’s school resource officer and described classroom safety lessons, DARE programming, online-safety presentations with ICAC investigators, and the role of a therapy dog in de-escalation.
