Tarrant City Board of Education unanimously approves agenda, contracts, transportation role and personnel actions

TARRANT CITY — At a called meeting on Aug. 6, 2024, the Tarrant City Board of Education unanimously approved the meeting agenda, minutes from July 30, several contracts, a new Transportation Supervisor role description and a personnel action sheet. Board President Sheaka Collins opened the session and Dr. Sherlene McDonald, the district superintendent, presented the items for approval.

The board adopted the agenda on a motion by Allen Bailey, seconded by Jesse Mendez, with all five voting members recorded as approving the motion. The board likewise approved the July 30 meeting minutes on a motion by Mendez and seconded by Bailey.

Under new business the superintendent presented contracts for board approval; Laura Horton moved to approve and Allen Bailey seconded. The board approved a role description for a Transportation Supervisor after a motion from Allen Bailey and a second from Chrystal Abernathy. The board then approved the personnel action sheet on a motion by Jesse Mendez, seconded by Allen Bailey. All motions were recorded as unanimously approved.

Dr. McDonald also provided a brief set of announcements, noting district vacancies and planned work on LED signage, updates to TIS/THS HVAC systems (acronyms as listed in the minutes), the old THS football complex, the complex and softball/baseball field, the Tarrant Recreation Gym, a scheduled mobile food pantry and several upcoming events. The minutes do not specify timelines, budgets or contractors for those items.

The called meeting was adjourned; the minutes include signature lines for chair and secretary.
