TARRANT CITY — The Tarrant City Board of Education on Oct. 29 swore in Debbie Hall as a board member and moved through a slate of routine business, unanimously approving the district’s September financial reports, several contracts, athletic supplements, a McKinney‑Vento Homeless Liaison role description, the Capital Planning Committee report for 2024–2025 and personnel actions.
The actions came during a meeting led by Board President Sheaka Collins. Dr. Sherlene McDonald, the district superintendent, presented the financial reports and reconciled bank statements for September — covering the General Fund, federal programs, Child Nutrition, the THS Construction Fund and individual school accounts — and recommended approval. Board members voted to approve the reports without dissent.
The meeting also included a first reading of a proposed Code of Conduct for the board; no vote was held on that item. The superintendent presented several contracts and recommended their approval; the board approved those contracts unanimously. Proposed athletic supplements were similarly presented and approved.
Board members approved a written role description for a McKinney‑Vento Homeless Liaison, a staff position intended to coordinate services for students experiencing homelessness. The Capital Planning Committee’s 2024–2025 report — which references the THS construction fund noted in the financial materials — was presented and adopted. The board also approved the Personnel Action Sheet as listed by the superintendent.
The meeting included routine announcements from the superintendent about current vacancies, the old THS band room and auditorium, repairs to the TAP/Twilight/Maintenance Building roof, and planned LED signage for THS and TIS, as well as upcoming district events.
All listed motions in open session were approved unanimously. No substantive debate or roll-call dissent is recorded in the meeting minutes.
The board adjourned following the business items.
