Random Lake committees begin Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan update; community survey planned

Lydia Bernhoft of Bay Lakes presented an overview of the village’s Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (CORP) update at the Joint Beautification/Lake, Parks and Recreation meeting on Feb. 10, 2026. Bernhoft said the primary purpose of the update is to create an inventory of village properties that will help the village pursue funding for park and recreation projects. "The main purpose of the plan is to be helpful for funding as it is an inventory of the village properties," she said.
Bernhoft told committee members she will circulate a community survey in June and asked the committee to forward any prior plans to her to inform the update. When Member Chuck Mueller asked whether Bay Lakes would include grant writing as part of its services, Bernhoft said grant writing is not included in the services the village is currently paying for but could be considered after the plan is complete.
Co‑Chairman Rachel Fuller set the next joint meeting for March 10 at 5:30 p.m. to work on goals and objectives for the plan. The committee emphasized that goals should be cohesive and achievable. No formal motions or votes were recorded on the CORP during the meeting.
