Communications team outlines new website, outreach metrics and enrollment progress
Summary
Executive director Jessica Roberts told the board the district will launch a new website mid-August, reported outreach metrics (about 5,550 page views on budget pages, ~34,000 people reached per message cycle) and said kindergarten enrollment stood at just over 1,000 as of June 11 (roughly 77% of the projected 1,300).

Jessica Roberts, the district’s executive director of communications, briefed the board on the communications team’s priorities: (1) community engagement for the superintendent search (completed), (2) budget messaging and clear central resources, and (3) a new district website scheduled for mid-August.
Roberts said the district centralized budget information on a single web page and proactively updated frequently asked questions; the page drew about 5,550 views related to budget challenges. “We reached over 34,000 people with each of these messages, and over half of the people who are receiving it opened it,” Roberts reported, describing the district’s email and ParentSquare outreach metrics.
Roberts also reviewed other tools and metrics: ParentSquare engagement rose modestly year over year, social-media posts and reels reached large audiences (the grad-walk reel had reached more than 53,000 people at the time of the snapshot), and the district reported roughly 1,000 kindergarten enrollments as of June 11 — about 77% of the district’s projected ~1,300 kindergartners.
Her team is also reworking content and architecture for SEO and AI-driven search results and plans a phased roll-out of school websites through 2026–27 with the main VPS site launching mid-August. Roberts cautioned that search performance may lag at launch and that the team will continue SEO and accessibility work after the site goes live.
Why it matters: Clear and accessible communications affect community understanding of district priorities (budget, enrollment, program changes) and help ensure that parents and staff can act on time-sensitive information. The district’s metrics indicate substantial reach, but staff said they will follow up with targeted outreach to families who have not yet enrolled children.
What’s next: Roberts said the communications team will continue outreach over the summer to families, push the mid-August website launch and provide an update on school-website rollout timing for 2026–27.
