City attorney resigns; council accepts resignation and clears routine business

City Attorney Nick Hall submitted his resignation, which the City Council accepted with regret at its Nov. 4 meeting. Mayor Chris West told the council that Rob Fleming, the assistant city attorney, is serving in that role and recommended Fleming continue as city attorney for the remainder of the contract. The motion to accept Mr. Hall's resignation was made by Greg Young and seconded by Phil Ray; all members present voted in favor.
Council also adopted Resolution No. 1802, introduced by Phil Ray and seconded by Brad Burianek, authorizing cancellation of outstanding abandoned checks and transfer of funds to the State of North Dakota's Unclaimed Property Division; the motion passed on roll call with unanimous support among members present.
In routine business, the council approved an application by Grafton Company, Inc. d/b/a Extra End to extend its liquor license to the Grafton Armory for the Chamber Banquet on Nov. 25 from 6:00–10:00 p.m. (motion by Greg Young, second by Darrin Wollitz); the council likewise approved, on the Economic Development Committee's recommendation, a Renaissance Zone application for ASAP Plumbing at 52 East 6th Street (estimated project value $140,000; building value $42,000).
