Council approves $15,000 amendment to Chamber agreement for Fourth of July parade security

The council approved Resolution No. 1881 at the June 22 meeting to authorize the mayor to execute Amendment No. 1 to the Chamber of Commerce provision of service agreement, allocating $15,000 to parade security and event staffing.
Parks Director Lina Hicks reported the amendment would allocate $8,500 for barriers lining the parade route, $2,500 to cover overtime for six additional city staff, and $4,000 to the Chamber of Commerce to hire security and event staff. Hicks said the $15,000 had previously been authorized by council and this resolution formalizes the distribution of those funds.
Council moved, seconded and approved the resolution on a voice vote. The funds will be used for parade route barriers, additional city staffing overtime and Chamber‑hired security for the July 4 parade and associated festivities.
