The Hobart City Redevelopment Authority approved a downtown film shoot and several routine business items while delaying action on a single unsafe‑building order.
The board granted a late request from a film production to film on sidewalks and storefronts in downtown Hobart during a daytime window March 22–25, with organizers told to keep the police department informed and to manage pedestrian flow. "Keep the police department apprised to what you're doing so you don't run into a problem," a staff member advised during discussion.
Members also reviewed and approved contract renewals for a set of downtown eateries and cafés (names read into the record) to remain in effect through Oct. 31. The board voted to cancel the annual sidewalk event as presented.
On unsafe‑building business, staff reported that 312 North Canton Street—recently purchased after foreclosure—had a demolition order only on the garage; the new owner has pulled building permits but was under a stop‑work order while seeking a licensed plumber. Board members voted to set the matter over to the April 1 meeting to allow time for the owner to demonstrate substantial compliance.
The board recessed the business items and moved later to the appeals agenda following the adjusted agenda order.
