The Grafton City Council on Sept. 9 adopted the city’s 2025 budget and placed Ordinance No. 359, entitled "AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED 'ANNUAL APPROPRIATION BILL' APPROPRIATING THE SUMS OF MONEY NECESSARY TO DEFRAY THE EXPENSES AND LIABILITIES OF THE CITY OF GRAFTON, NORTH DAKOTA, AND MAKING THE ANNUAL TAX LEVY FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 2025 AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2025," on second reading and adopted it by unanimous roll call vote.
The budget presented for the fiscal year beginning Jan. 1, 2025 shows an increase of $782,000 in expenditures from the prior year. Administrator Nick Ziegelmann told the Council the recommendation was to leave the mill levy unchanged at 116.01 mills. No members of the public appeared at the statutorily required hearing under Section 40-40-08, N.D.C.C.
Council Member Brian Sieben moved to adopt the ordinance and Council Member Greg Young seconded the motion; all members present voted in favor. Mayor Chris West declared the motion carried.
