At its Aug. 6 meeting the Town of Campton Planning Board considered whether the town should define short‑term rentals and whether to develop a permit or an ordinance. Board members recommended reading a related article and agreed to continue discussion at a future meeting; Cathlin Lord, the temporary Planning and Zoning Coordinator, was asked to search the P&Z office for relevant documents.
Separately, board members raised staffing and administrative follow-ups. Member Sherrill Howard suggested extending the temporary Planning and Zoning Coordinator position to support transition when a new coordinator starts. Vice‑Chair Jake Tuck asked for an update on hiring a new Planning and Zoning Coordinator. Howard also asked whether a position description had been developed for a proposed compliance officer. Ex‑Officio Selectman Craig Engel distributed an article outlining the planning board’s responsibilities for reviewing and updating the town master plan and asked members to review the article and the current master plan ahead of the next meeting.
Procedural motions at the start of the meeting approved the minutes for June 4, July 9 and July 16, 2024 (motions by Stuart Pitts, seconded by Sherrill Howard; approved unanimously). Approval of the June 11, 2024 minutes was postponed due to missing information. The meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
