Commissioners approve 2026 health and insurance renewals, including cyber policy

The Daviess County Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to approve the county’s 2026 employee health plan Summary Plan Description and a set of insurance renewals presented by Paul Williams of Acrisure Great Lakes.
Williams said the county’s employee-facing health plan arrangements remain unchanged for 2026 and asked the commissioners to approve the Summary Plan Description (SPD) provided by UMR; the board approved the SPD. Williams also reviewed the county’s property and package renewal and said Bliss McKnight offered the best coverage and rates for the county package; commissioners approved the renewal.
On cyber insurance, Williams said the county had reduced its deductible in 2024 and that recent security upgrades led to a reduced premium; he recommended keeping the cyber renewal consistent with 2025, and the board approved the recommendation. Williams also summarized the police reserves renewal, confirming that state rules require medical coverage for reserves, and presented a $908-per-year renewal that the commissioners approved. For workers’ compensation coverage, Williams recommended switching the county’s package to WestBend for a better rate and resources; the board approved the change.
Each motion passed unanimously among the present commissioners.
