The Kelley Park Committee on April 14 approved the October 2024 minutes and reviewed a series of 2025 maintenance and repair projects funded through the town budget, including tennis-court fence repairs, replacement trees, baseball infield drainage and related field repairs. Committee member Dorcas Gordon moved to accept the October 2024 minutes; committee member Scott Doucette seconded and the motion passed.
According to the minutes, the town budget passed at town meeting and lists several 2025 projects the committee plans to pursue. The committee identified the tennis court fence as a priority (the base tie-down requires repair) and asked Scott Doucette to follow up with a fence company for a quote. The minutes record that replacement trees are planned and that committee members met with Dylan Hennessy, who hopes to undertake tree replacement as his Eagle Scout project; Les Dion will reach out to Hennessy to check on progress. Victor Greenwood will contact Christina to determine where the town is obtaining trees for downtown and to seek pricing.
Baseball- and softball-field maintenance also received attention. The baseball infield requires dirt to improve drainage; the minutes note plans to obtain infield dirt and related work. Victor Greenwood said he will try increased watering of the softball field during the season to see whether that helps; Dan MacLean suggested installing a water spigot at that end of the field to facilitate watering and said he would look into it. MacLean also said Ashland is redoing its fields with a blue-tinted mix; he plans to contact Ashland to learn what material was used and the cost.
The committee agreed to repair the pitchers mound after noting that bricks were cracked when a vehicle struck the mound. The concession building’s electrical outlets—used during band performances—experienced problems last year; the minutes state that Greenwood will contact Goodrum Electric to inspect and address the plug/outlet issues.
On routine facilities work, the minutes say the town has arranged for a once-weekly restroom cleaning; Les Dion will confirm which day the town contractor cleans and the TTCC will be responsible for coverage on the other weekdays. Dan MacLean is researching elements to improve handicap accessibility and will provide that information to the committee when available.
The minutes close by recording that Victor Greenwood reported the groundskeeper position has been filled by Joe Sarto, who will undertake field work. The minutes are signed "Respectfully submitted, Les Dion."
