Commissioners confirm 2026 officers and accept treasurer's 2025 investment report

The Daviess County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 13 confirmed annual appointments and accepted the Board of Finance’s annual report on 2025 investments.
During annual appointment proceedings the board approved the county attorney as Grant Swartzentruber; IT director as Dale Quakenbush; courthouse maintenance supervisor as Scott Schnarr; veterans officer as Tony Potts; highway department supervisor as Chris Winkler; and weights and measures as Eric Walford. Commissioners also completed election of officers for the Drainage Board and the Board of Finance, confirming Michael Keith as president, TC Cook as vice president and Nathan Gabhart as secretary for those bodies as recorded in the minutes.
Jamie Chapman, Daviess County treasurer, presented the annual finance report and a spreadsheet of interest earned in 2025. Chapman told the board that the county placed certificates of deposit with First Federal Savings Bank, Old National and Springs Valley Bank and kept regular deposit checking at German American and First Financial Bank; the investment policy remained the same as in 2025. Commissioners approved the finance report and adjourned the Board of Finance meeting.
The minutes list approval of the 2025 gross wage report and the payroll and claims dockets as the meeting concluded.
