Planning Board refers Strongtown Storage propane-tank plan to county and schedules June 24 public hearing

The Planning Board voted on May 13 to refer Strongtown Storage’s site-plan modification request — to add four 30,000-gallon aboveground propane tanks for lease to CES — to the County for a GML 239 review and scheduled a public hearing for June 24, 2026.
Engineer Glenn Smith said the tanks were on earlier plans but removed after neighbor objections. Board members and consultants asked whether tanks will comply with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) safety protocols, requested more substantial screening than low shrubs (suggested staggered trees or taller vegetation), and asked that a fence be installed around the tanks. Staff also asked that truck access be shown clearly and that the gate location allow trucks to pull fully off the road. The board concluded the project requires another GML 239 review and a public hearing.
A motion to refer the project to the County passed unanimously; the board also voted to schedule the June 24 hearing. The board directed the applicant to update plans to show the fence and safe truck access and noted the site plan should reflect NFPA compliance.
