Trustees report events and DPW schedules brief water shutdown ahead of July 3 activities

Trustee updates and brief operational notices occupied the closing portion of the June 24 meeting. Trustee Jamie Mitchell reported on the Thomas Cole reception and progress on park upgrades and pocket parks planning. Trustee Thomas Boomhower reported attending merchants and fire department meetings, noted recent Juneteenth and Summer Solstice events, and said organizers are exploring a Jazz Festival and an upcoming Beattie Powers art show.
DPW Superintendent Craig Rowell told the board the village will shut down water service briefly on Monday, June 29, for approximately 2 to 4 hours; notices have been posted on the village website and calls were made to residents. Rowell also said two DPW staff will be on duty for the July 3 Rev 250 activities downtown. Resident Elliott Matos said a planned self-defense class at a local gym is moving forward.
On a motion by Trustee Boomhower, seconded by Trustee Mitchell, the board adjourned the meeting at 7:22 p.m. The minutes were later approved and marked APPROVED on July 8, 2026.
