Committee conditionally approves Mossyhead Health Department clinic; staff to address minor comments and Air Force soundproofing recommendations

The TechnoPro Review Committee conditionally approved a minor development order for a Mossyhead Health Department clinic on June 17, with staff and the county project manager saying outstanding comments are minor and that required sound attenuation will be included.
Planning staff described the project (MIN26-000045) as a proposed 3,500-square-foot modular medical clinic on a 1.533-acre parcel of a larger 74-acre campus in District 3 at 1060 Mossyhead Plaza Drive. Staff noted outstanding planning and engineering comments and said the Air Force had recommended additional soundproofing for similar facilities.
David Bush, project manager for Walton County Public Works, said the procurement process has begun and that acoustic insulation/sound attenuation is incorporated in the proposed building. “We did incorporate the fire plans into our plans for the address access for everybody,” Bush said; he added that the county expects to address Air Force concerns through the building design or by using a permanent brick-and-mortar structure if plans change.
Staff recommended conditional approval pending successful resubmittal and issuance of a development order by the planning director. A committee member moved, and the committee voted to conditionally approve the application pending final responses to comments.
Next steps: county project staff will finalize plans to address remaining planning and engineering comments, including sound attenuation measures tied to the Air Force’s recommendation, and resubmit for final issuance of the development order.
