The Fargo Liquor Control Board voted to continue two restaurant liquor applications to a future meeting after members raised concerns about insufficient packet materials and missing background detail.
Angie, the city staff member presenting applications, described Divine Taste of Africa's GH (beer and wine) application and La Terrazza's FA (full-service restaurant) application and said background checks had been initiated. Several board members said they were receiving only a one-page summary in packets and wanted applicants to appear in person with fuller documentation, including business plans and floor plans. One board member said past restaurant principals have sometimes resurfaced under new names, and that fuller file review helps spot problematic histories.
After discussion, the board made and seconded motions to continue both the Divine Taste of Africa and La Terrazza items to the next meeting so the board can review additional materials and, if desired, meet applicants in person. The motions carried by voice vote.
Staff said it will coordinate with the city attorney about what application materials can be provided without violating open-records requirements and will return with recommended packet content.
