Parks director: splash pad hires pending; four robot mowers, grants and Eagle Scout project planned

Brian Perry, Parks & Recreation Director, gave the board a series of operational updates at the April 7 meeting.

Perry said he has sent offers to prospective splash pad employees and is awaiting their decisions. He said he plans to place the related matter for a vote by the Board of Supervisors at their next meeting.

On maintenance, Perry reported the park will receive four robot mowers to help maintain ball fields and green space. On event planning, Perry said he and Mike met with the SBCBA and the Chamber in the planned beer-garden area for the township's 250th anniversary event, and that three local breweries will partner to run the beer garden together.

Perry also briefed the board on pending grant applications: a Butler County grant that would provide AED enclosures for the park; an Experience Butler County grant intended to fund sandwich-board signs; and participation in the Bare Root Tree Program, which would secure 15 trees for the park. He said he and John Hock met with Evan and Evan's father to plan an Eagle Scout project, with materials and site preparation expected in early June.

Perry asked board members to recruit volunteers and local nonprofits for the 250th event, clarifying that nonprofits should not sell or fundraise at the event but may staff informational tables about their services. The board took no additional formal actions on these items during the meeting; several items remain pending grant decisions or require Board of Supervisors approval.
