Adams Township parks director reports new grants, tree plantings and splash pad staffing

Adams Township Parks & Recreation Director Brian Perry told the board on May 5 that the department has received and planted 15 trees through the Bare Root Program and secured a local Butler grant to purchase five AED enclosures. He said the township is still awaiting word on an Experience Butler County grant application that would fund eight sandwich-board signs.
Perry also updated members on an Eagle Scout project to build a gaga ball pit; he said an Eagle Scout named Evan is expected to complete the work in mid-June. On community events, Perry asked board members to reach out to local nonprofits interested in participating in the township's upcoming 250th celebration and reported roughly 25 volunteers have signed up so far.
On operations, Perry said the township has hired eight summer staff for the splash pad. He said staff are exploring adding simple concessions at the facility and will continue to invite local food trucks; the board briefly discussed maintaining the same hours of operation used in prior years.
During public comment, resident Tim Detisch asked the board about pickleball court reservation policies and programming and requested that cleaning tools such as squeegees be made available at the courts for maintenance.
The board approved the minutes of the April meeting earlier in the session. The meeting adjourned at 7:30 P.M.; the next meeting is scheduled for June 2, 2026, at 6:00 P.M.
