Marionville hires consultant to support wastewater operations and train city operator

The Marionville Board of Aldermen voted April 16 to accept a short-term operations and training proposal from Alan Frantz of Water Solutions to support the city’s wastewater treatment plant.
Frantz told the board the plant’s operating permit with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources is expired and that securing a new permit could take years because DNR is processing applications more slowly. Frantz proposed to operate the plant four days per week for four weeks and train Alex Harris, the city’s plant operator-in-training; as Harris becomes proficient, Frantz said he would reduce on-site attendance and provide oversight. Frantz also said his firm would handle test results, recordkeeping, emergency call-in coverage and DNR paperwork under his business license.
Alderman Urschel moved to accept the proposal and Alderman Johnson seconded; the motion passed on recorded roll call. The minutes record no contract amount or funding source for the services; the board’s action authorized the short-term arrangement and training plan.
