Marionville certifies April 7 election, swears in new mayor and aldermen

The Marionville Board of Aldermen on April 16 read the certified results of the April 7 municipal election and sworn in newly elected officials.
Mayor Dale Blankenship read the certified tallies, announcing Angie Brenner was elected mayor with 232 votes; Trent Baker won Ward I with 101 votes, Kristi Zemas won Ward II with 76 votes, and Philip Mark Johnson won Ward III with 44 votes. Two ballot questions were reported: Question 1 passed 241–202; Question 2 failed 176–257. City Clerk Krissa Bliss swore in the new officials immediately after the results were read.
Outgoing board members spoke; Alderman Brenner presented a plaque to Mayor Blankenship recognizing his service as alderman and mayor. In business that followed, Alderman Bliss moved to elect Alderman Trent Baker as mayor pro tem; the motion passed on a roll-call vote with one recorded Nay. The board also voted to retain existing bank signers, remove Dale Blankenship, and add Mayor Angie Brenner as an authorized signer for city accounts.
The meeting closed with brief remarks from aldermen and newly sworn Mayor Angie Brenner, who thanked voters and called for unity as the board moves forward. The board adjourned following those comments.
