Committee approves summer event permits and alcohol license renewals

The Stevens Point Public Policy & General Government Committee approved multiple routine permits and license renewals on June 8, clearing the way for several summer events and alcohol-service renewals.
The committee approved temporary Class B beer permits for Create Portage County’s Levitt AMP series and two Mid-State Roller Derby events at KB Willett Arena. It also approved Class B renewals for the Stevens Point Youth Baseball Association beginning July 1 and Class B/C wine renewals for Crazy Taco Express, Franny’s Family Restaurant and Point Market’s Vietnamese restaurant, all effective July 1. The committee approved Class B beer and liquor combination renewals for Create Portage County, El Mezcal, Frank and Ernie’s, Goose On Main, Little White Inn and Tokyo Steak House, and a fermented malt beverage license renewal for West Side Mobile; those items passed unanimously.
The committee also approved event permits: the North Central Conservancy Trust bike ride for conservation on Aug. 8 (recurring with minor changes), a new Stevens Point Area YMCA costume 5K fun run, and the Police Department’s National Night Out at Saramore Park on Aug. 4. No law enforcement objections were raised during the discussion.
Motions were moved and seconded in committee and items were approved by voice vote; staff will implement the permits and update licensing records as appropriate.
