Administrators present first quarterly property budget status report; committee probes capital spending

Administrator Cassie Taylor said that at six months into the fiscal year the committee should be alert to any lines at 50% or under. Taylor and staff reported park operations and park recreational services as "slightly under 50%" and gave figures (reported in the meeting as approximately 34.8% and 41.4%, respectively). Facilities management showed higher early-year expenditures.
Director of Facilities Scott Fogler explained components of the capital-assets variance: "there was a payment to the Illinois Treasury Department out of that account for 76,000 and change, and there was also the purchase of a mower for 23,000 and change." Fogler said the county also invested in plumbing kits and other equipment that represent one-time costs early in the fiscal year but that he was "far from concerned about where we'll be at the end." Chair Layman encouraged continued quarterly review and offered the committee's support in monitoring large purchases.
Administration confirmed the budget status report will be provided quarterly and the committee agreed to revisit the report at the next scheduled meeting.
