Parent urges Lexington 2 to permit PTO online payments, seeks more transparency on policy drafts

At the Aug. 15 meeting Melissa Go forth spoke during public participation to thank Lexington 2 CFO Skye Strickland for a Booster Club/PTO training and to raise practical concerns about PTO fundraising and district transparency.
Go forth said Riverbank Elementary had avoided online options such as Venmo because of an internal policy but that other PTOs were already using online payment tools. She asked the district to consider providing consistent templates, bond-insurance guidance and coordinated rates so volunteer organizations are not forced to do extra paperwork or invoice parents manually. She characterized the lack of a posted draft of policy KEC as a transparency lapse compared with past practice under a former superintendent and asked the board to reconsider how policies are published in advance of meetings.
Go forth closed by reminding the audience that school districts will be closed Nov. 5 for the general election and provided a local filing update: Lexington 2 has four seats available this cycle with nine candidates filed, and she encouraged parents and stakeholders to learn about candidates in the coming weeks.
