Madelia City Council approves consent agenda, special assessment and curb cut extension

The Madelia City Council on June 22 approved a slate of routine and project-specific items, including payment of bills totaling $213,475.18 and temporary liquor licenses for Park Days.
Mayor Cody Eager called the meeting to order. Councilmember Glen Christensen moved to approve the consent items with the addition of Temporary Park Days liquor licenses for Lost Sanity, Embars, LaPlaza and the Legion; Councilmember Andy Gappa seconded and the motion passed with all members voting yes. The consent agenda included a detailed check issue list that itemized payments to vendors such as Bolton and Menk Inc., Madelia Community Schools and Van Hee Media LLC, with a combined total of $213,475.18.
Separately, the council approved a motion by Mark Slater, seconded by Matt Gunderson, to extend a curb cut at 426 Third St. SW (Ryan Visher) to 30 feet; the motion passed unanimously. Later in the meeting the council approved a Special Assessment Agreement with Luverne Supermarket, Inc. to resurface the Sunshine Foods parking lot. The agreement terms recorded in the meeting are for 10 years at 3 percent, and the quoted resurfacing cost is $30,487.00. The council also approved dismissing Administrative Citation 00627 following a hearing held that evening; Mark Slater recorded an abstention on that vote.
Councilmember Glen Christensen moved, and Matt Gunderson seconded, a motion to approve Temporary Liquor Licenses and waive the $100 temporary liquor license fee for the Park Days events at the four locations; that motion passed unanimously.
With no further business, Councilmember Andy Gappa moved to adjourn, a motion seconded by Mark Slater and approved by all members.
