Commission adopts letters-of-support policy and urges caution on July 4 fireworks

Grand County commissioners on June 16 adopted a Letters of Support Policy intended to create a consistent framework for evaluating requests for county letters of support, Administrator Mark Tyner said. The policy directs staff to ensure letters advance the public interest, align with county goals, and avoid creating unintended obligations for the county.
The Commission also adopted a separate resolution related to July 4 fireworks. Commissioner Mary McGann read the resolution into the record, and a representative of the Moab Valley Fire Protection District described current critical fire conditions in the county (reported in the 95th percentile relative to historic averages). The resolution urges respect for neighbors’ rights and compliance with applicable laws and restrictions. Both resolutions passed unanimously, 5–0.
