The Lexington 2 Board of Trustees voted unanimously Sept. 19 to grant three utility easements to the City of Casey for the Avenue's drainage improvement project, which operations staff said is supported by a $10,000,000 grant.
Operations director Warren described coordination with American Engineering and with Brooklyn Casey staff to avoid operational impacts. "The city was awarded $10,000,000 in grant funding to complete this project, which will benefit the city and provide the school district benefit as well," Warren said. Meeting notes reported the existing underground system is between 50 and 75 years old and the work will improve drainage and water quality.
Board members pressed for specifics about impacts to parking and surface restoration after prior concerns over incomplete restoration from earlier projects. Warren said the easement work on parking areas would be phased and repaved, and engineers assured on-site meetings had set expectations for restoration and improved paving after construction.
Board member Bridal moved to approve the easements; the motion was seconded by Kevin Key and carried unanimously.
Warren said two of the easement segments will be worked on next summer, with the third at a later date, and staff will provide additional scheduling details when they are available.
