Commission approves urgent facilities spending: mower purchase and MIC bathroom remodel

Fugit said the county’s 2013 Husqvarna riding mower had reached the end of its useful life and additional repairs were not cost-effective; the Commission authorized an emergency purchase of a Mustang Z46 zero-turn lawn tractor with an estimated fiscal impact of $3,899.98. The motion passed 5–0 via roll call.
Separately, the Commission approved up to $200,000 from the Capital Projects Fund to fully remodel the MIC restrooms, citing heavy visitor volume and a need for ADA-compliant temporary restrooms during construction. The procurement will be completed using a state contractor. Commissioner Winfield moved the MIC motion and it passed 5–0.
Both items were presented as necessary maintenance and infrastructure investments; funding will come from existing capital budgets.
