The Grand County Commission on June 16 authorized two facilities expenditures after presentations from Facilities Supervisor Shawn Fugit and Commissioner Brian Martinez. Fugit said the county’s 2013 Husqvarna riding mower had reached the end of its useful life and additional repairs were not cost-effective; the Commission authorized an emergency purchase of a Mustang Z46 zero-turn lawn tractor with an estimated fiscal impact of $3,899.98. The motion passed 5–0 via roll call.
Separately, the Commission approved up to $200,000 from the Capital Projects Fund to fully remodel the MIC restrooms, citing heavy visitor volume and a need for ADA-compliant temporary restrooms during construction. The procurement will be completed using a state contractor. Commissioner Winfield moved the MIC motion and it passed 5–0.
Both items were presented as necessary maintenance and infrastructure investments; funding will come from existing capital budgets.
