The Grand County Commission opened a public hearing on June 16 on a proposal to change zoning for a one-acre parcel along Highway 191, Planning and Zoning Director Andrew Jackson said. The request would convert the parcel from split zoning (Highway Commercial and General Business) to entirely Highway Commercial, a change Jackson said would remove split zoning and align development standards with the county’s General Plan and surrounding highway-oriented commercial uses.
Jackson told the Commission staff recommended approval of the rezone, describing it as consistent with adjacent uses. Commissioners left the hearing record open for additional written or oral comment and set a deadline: the hearing will remain open until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24. No formal action was taken at the June 16 meeting.
The hearing was opened at 4:13 p.m. and will return to the Commission for final deliberation after the comment period closes.
