Board approves vouchers, employee life insurance and fireworks; recycling ordinance wording changed

At its April 14 meeting the Village of Rockland board handled several routine and administrative items.
The board approved the March financial report and authorized payment of ACHs and checks #13848–13872 totaling $101,109.91 after a motion by Trustee Linda Young and a second from Trustee Seth Hemmersbach. Trustee Penny Stock seconded a motion by Trustee Seth Hemmersbach to approve the financial report; motions carried as recorded.
Trustee Bob Rueckheim moved and Trustee Linda Young seconded to approve village-paid $25,000 life insurance for employees; the board directed staff to create an opt-out form for employees who do not wish to participate. The board also approved fireworks for the Bangor/Burns Fire Department on June 27, 2026 (motion by Linda Young, second Penny Stock) and agreed to minor verbiage changes in the recycling ordinance (motion by Bob Rueckheim, second Penny Stock).
A cement quote of $2,433 to remove and pour concrete for a handicap ramp at Village Hall and a pad for a picnic table at Gaylord Park was presented; the board tabled that item until the May 5 meeting. President Jon Hohlfeld said he would speak with Ben Schaitel at the Stop & Go about contributing recycled blacktop for an alley with village maintenance thereafter. The record also shows the board tabled action to initiate an ordinance committee until May 5 to gather more information.
