Town officials reported the close-out of a Community Development Block Grant during the Aug. 19 Four Oaks Board of Commissioners meeting.
Skip Green presented details of the CDBG. Green said the grant covered two activities: the Town of Four Oaks sewer extension on Highway 96 and Keen Road, and a Johnston County water main on Highway 96. The minutes record construction costs of $1,483,745 for the Four Oaks sewer extension and $1,683,923 for the Johnston County water main. Green described the grant as a $1 million Community Development Block Grant and said the state will perform a monitoring visit before issuing a formal close-out letter.
Green also reported that Broad River, the grant project employer, committed to 110 non-retail jobs and was required to show that 60% of those positions were filled by individuals with low to moderate income; the minutes state Broad River met that commitment. Mayor Medlin called for public comment; none was offered and the public hearing portion was closed.
The board did not vote to alter grant terms or allocate additional funds; the presentation recorded completion and the pending state monitoring step.
