Council appoints Edwin Shaver to Planning & Zoning Board; schedules joint meeting with Fire & Rescue

At its May 14 meeting the Fairview Town Council addressed a Planning & Zoning Board vacancy and Fire Department requests.
Following the resignation of Jon Williams as an alternate on the Planning & Zoning Board, Bradley Purser moved to appoint Edwin Shaver to the position. Arnold Price seconded; Councilmembers Purser and Price voted yes and Councilmember Clontz abstained. The motion passed with three affirmative votes recorded.
Hal Wiel, president of the Fairview Fire & Rescue Board of Directors, requested a joint meeting with the Town Council to discuss the town’s annual funding for the department, the department’s station location and equipment needs and to allow council members to view the existing station. Bradley Purser moved to schedule a joint meeting for Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Fire Department; Jerry Clontz seconded and the motion passed 3-0.
No further formal actions on fire department funding or station location were decided at the May 14 meeting; the joint session will provide an opportunity for that discussion.
