Residents urge Enfield commissioners to keep Community Park fence; board defers final action

Karen Richardson said she opposed removing the fence, noting it has been in place for many years. Joynel Whitaker and Mary Harrison voiced similar concerns about safety, access and the presence of people the speakers said live nearby at the Carriage House Apartments.
Commissioners answered and debated the concern in brief remarks. Commissioner Bobby Whitaker, Commissioner Tracey Joyner and Commissioner Michael Redic emphasized safety and urged consideration of patrols; Commissioner Kenneth Ward raised questions about how the park would be protected without the fence. Mayor Mondale Robinson said the community should signal whether it wants the park kept safe and clean.
No motion to remove the fence was adopted at the meeting; the mayor announced the topic would receive public attention at a future meeting so the town could collect broader input before any formal vote.
