The Town of Enfield Board of Commissioners approved several administrative items during its late-summer and fall meetings.
Engineer selection: On Sept. 15 the board adopted a resolution selecting Engineering Services, PA to provide engineering services for CDBG projects 19-I-4201 and 24-I-4201. Commissioner Bobby Whitaker moved to adopt the resolution; Commissioner Kenneth Ward seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Electric-grid design funding: On Oct. 20 commissioners discussed an outdated distribution grid that town officials said has changed little since the 1980s. Finance Director Patricia Whitaker said insurance would not cover the cost to design the entire grid. After discussion Commissioner Kenneth Ward moved to use $42,000 of funds set aside for the community center to pay an engineering firm to create a full grid design so upgrade quotes will be accurate; Commissioner Angela Harper seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
Rezoning: At the Aug. 18 board meeting Planning Director Ronnie Locke introduced a rezoning request for 115 N. Dennis St from Commercial Downtown to R-0 Residential. Commissioner Bobby Whitaker moved to accept the rezoning; Commissioner Tracey Joyner seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Board members recorded unanimous votes on these items; staff and department heads were directed to proceed with the described next steps, including contract execution with the selected engineer and work to finalize grid design scopes.
