Flat Rock council approves minutes, confirms alternate appointment and hears finance, zoning and park reports

Council approved the Consent Agenda (Dec. 1, Dec. 11 and Dec. 29 minutes) on a motion from Council Member Bass, seconded by Council Member Jeter; the motion carried unanimously. Council also confirmed Tom Carpenter as the village alternate to the French Broad River Metropolitan Planning Organization and the Henderson County Transportation Advisory Committee on a motion by Council Member Whitmire, seconded by Council Member Bass; that motion also carried unanimously.
Finance and administration updates included Vice Mayor Toner’s report that the Park Foundation transferred $210,315.76 to the village’s general fund in December. Council Member Stuller reported fiscal-year tax collections at 95 percent, with $1,626,000.86 collected to date. Village Administrator Patricia Christie summarized website, social media and EV charging station metrics and provided an update on FEMA public-assistance coordination related to park restoration work. The zoning/ordinance activity report described ongoing Highland Lake PMUD activity and several variance, plat and permitting matters.
Council heard other announcements about upcoming community events (MLK breakfast Jan. 19; Chamber Awards Jan. 29), thanked residents for public engagement and adjourned the meeting at 10:50 a.m. on a motion by Council Member Jeter, seconded by Council Member Stuller.
